EuroVelo 5
Investments are currently focusing on four EuroVelo5 projects, against the backdrop of EuroCyclo:
- Between Escanaffles and Ruien
- Between Russeignies and Ronse
- Between Ronse and Ellezelles
- In Lessines
Escanaffles – Ruien
Development of a greenway link connecting the town of Ruien to the Pays des Collines RAVeL line covering a distance of 3.6km. A footbridge has also been built spanning the Rhosnes River. The footbridge was completed in early November 2021. The roadworks can now be carried out.

ERDF contribution : 150 000€ excl. VAT

Russeignies – Ronse
Development of a greenway link covering more than 2km. The expropriation procedure is underway to allow the Walloon Region to complete the development work to carry on the cycle route already created by the town of Ronse. The RAVeL network currently has a diversion through a northern section, which makes the route passable.

ERDF contribution : 0 € excl. VAT
PASSABLE via a diversion on a paved road north of the direct section

Ronse-Ellezelles: site of the Beaufaux Bridge
Development of a greenway link under the Beaufaux bridge. This work involves going through the bridge cavity, which is currently blocked, so that bikes can cycle directly under the bridge. At the moment, cyclist have to get off their bike and use one staircase on the Walloon side and another staircase on the Flemish side. Calls for tender for the works are underway for work to begin in early 2022.

ERDF contribution : 230 000€ excl. VAT
PASSABLE with the current situation, i.e. by using the stairs.

Lessines
Securing a dedicated cycle route and building a bridge for cyclists over the Dender. Lessines is the point at which the Pays des Collines RAVeL network joins the Dender RAVeL network. The development of this junction point will mean that the EV5 can safely and easily continue towards Grammont.
